hidden files problem and "amvo.exe trojan"
Jan 24 2008, 1:06 PM EST | Post edited: Jan 24 2008, 1:06 PM EST
for the past few weeks my internet speed has been astoundingly fast, though i have 128 kbps unlimited airtel broadband connection,i have been getting download speed of like 260 to 270 kB/s.whole movie gets downloaded within 50 minutes.if i dont get this high speed i just switch the modem off and then on and i get it.the problem is that i have found that there is this "amvo.exe" file on my system and i have searched the net and found out that it is a trojan/backdoor.was i getting the high internet speed due to this trojan?.one more problem is that now i cant view my hidden files.i go to tools, then folders and then as usual, but even after selecting "show hidden files" i m not seeing them.i searched the net by "hidden files problem" and found a solution .it said to change some particular registry value.
here is the link:

i changed the registry value but i dont understand the next instruction .also the registry value changes back even after i change it.

i have deleted this "amvo.exe" from registry, but the problem still remains.

also suddenly yahoo messenger just closes off wenever i enter id and password and press login.

plz help.

i m using avast home edition.this virus amvo.exe keeps coming back every second day or so and i just keep deleting it .two of my friends also got the same virus.their yahoo had also stopped working and the system would not show hidden files.i removed the virus from their system and then yahoo messenger started working.but problem still remains with hidden files.wen i change the registry value to 1 then the hidden files are shown, but in the "tools->folder option->hidden file and folder neither of the option is checked, and as soon as check one of them file become hidden.so i have to access them with command prompt.i have also forwarded my port for bitcomet can that be a possible entrance for this virus, which keeps on returning?. one more thing ,i have searched the net for the "hacker's language" and most of the places its either perl or c++.though people's opinion do vary but most of the places its perl and c++.i mean hacker in the terms of certified ethical hacker.can u also plz tell the importance of LINUX or unox like OS in the aspect of CEH.because at one place i found that LINUX being mentioned as a very important step if one wanna be a hacker particularly with internet hacking.so i downloaded the UNBUNTU linux live cd and burned it to disc and wen i boot from cd nothing happens, just windows start.? 11  out of 13 found this valuable. this is off topic but please reply.

what is the difference between WAN ip address and LAN ip address.i found out on the internet that "LAN ip is ur ip address in a local network and WAN ip is the address by which the internet world knows your system".this definition are hard to understand a bit.u can assume that i have basic knowledge about ip addressing, subnetting etc while answering.a more elaborate answer is wat i m seeking.plz reply.

Hi friend,
Here are some removal tips.
First type "msconfig" in run command(ctrl+R)
then check the startup there will be your amvo.exe
Just uncheck it!
Then open cmd
for each drive do
c:\>attrib -h -s autorun.inf
c:\>attrib -r autorun.inf
c:\>del autorun.inf
c:\>attrib -h -s u.bat
c:\>attrib -r u.bat
c:\>del u.bat

If you have inserted a usb thumb drive then do the above steps for it too

The amvo.exe will be in system32 i think or check in windows folder using command prompt
by typing c:\>Windows>attrib -h -s amvo.exe
Now You can see that virus file in the explorer
c:\>Windows>attrib -r amvo.exe
c:\>Windows> del amvo.exe

restart your computer!

Then for removing the restrictions (your hidden file problem)
download http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/RRT-Remove-Ristrictions-Tool-Download-68926.html

This tool and run it! Tick the restrictions you want to remove and click ok(it will remove restrictions for you :) )

its that i type the message and wen i press the enter nothing shows up in the screen above, same is the case with rediffbol.rediffbol is showing that "your javascript might be disabled"but i have enabled it.any solution?i dont want to install windows again for this reason.is this a registry problem.

also is it ok to use a batch file to delete the temp folder contents, cookies, recent and all that on startup?
